I have always been skeptical of fortune telling, but out of curiosity I once went to a tarot teller. She told me that I was in for a trip that would change my life. At the time it seemed absurd to me, because I had never dreamed of faraway trips. However, a few months later I was offered a job in a completely different country. Coincidence or something more?

Tarot often shows us potential paths we can take. Your career change may have already been present in your subconscious, and the cards only made you aware of it. It's like such an internal compass.

@hellan Exactly. Tarot is not a crystal ball that shows the future with absolute certainty. The cards show possibilities, and it's up to us which path we take. Sometimes divination can act as a warning or encouragement, but the final choice is always up to us.

I think that divination works a bit like the placebo effect. If we believe in a prediction, we subconsciously strive for its fulfillment. In your case, believing the words of the tarot reader may have motivated you to take on new challenges that you would have feared before.

In my practice I have encountered various situations. Sometimes the predictions came true every iota, and sometimes not at all. Much depends on the skill of the fortune teller and how open to suggestions the person being foretold is. Let's remember that the future is not predetermined, and we have the influence to shape it.

What I've noticed is that divinations often work in the realm of feelings and interpersonal relationships. Emotions are a strong driver of our actions, so it's easier for us to subconsciously pursue the fulfillment of a prediction that concerns love or friendship.

And I think that divination is most accurate when it concerns our inner predispositions and talents. Cards can help us discover our potential and point us in the direction of personal development.

Divination is not an oracle, but a clue. It is like a map that shows us the terrain, but does not tell us which path to take. It is important to use divination judiciously and not to treat it as the only right prediction.

@shaman Tagged with. Divination can be helpful, but we should not become dependent on it. The most important thing is to keep a critical mind and remember that we are the smiths of our own fate.

All in all, I don't know what to think about it myself. On the one hand, as I listen to your stories, it seems to me that there may be something in these divinations. On the other hand, I get the feeling that they are often mere coincidences. I myself once went to a fortune teller, who told me that I would meet a tall brunet with a name on the letter "M". Well, and indeed, I met such a guy, but he turned out to be a complete asshole! So I don't know if it was the prediction that came true, or if I was just unlucky 😉 .

@leonora You made me laugh with that "M"! 😂 I think psychics can give us some guidance, but they don't absolve us from thinking and making our own decisions. At the end of the day, we are in charge of our lives, not tarot cards or the line on our hand.

And I will tell you the story of my aunt. She once went to a fortune teller who told her that she would win a large sum of money. My aunt took it seriously and started playing the lotto. Well, and guess what? After a few months she actually hit a six! She won so much money that she bought herself a house and still had enough left over for travel. To this day she claims that it was thanks to this fortune-telling.

@zorka This is an example of how a fortune teller can work as a self-fulfilling prophecy. My aunt believed in the words of the fortune teller, took action and achieved success. Maybe if she hadn't gone to this fortune teller, she wouldn't have played the lotto at all and wouldn't have won anything.

I too have a story related to prophecy. A few years ago I was with a clairvoyant who told me that I was facing a job change and moving to another city. At the time, I was happy with my job and didn't plan any changes. But after six months, the company where I worked went bankrupt and I lost my job. I had to look for new employment and finally found an interesting offer in another city. So the prediction came true, although not quite as I had imagined.

@czulu Well, that's right, it's interesting that the prediction came true, but in a completely different way than you expected. This shows that the future is fluid and can change depending on various factors.

It is often said that divinations come true, but not always in a literal way. One must be able to interpret signs and symbols, and take into account the context of the situation.

I for one am skeptical when it comes to divination. The future cannot be predicted.

You are entitled to your opinion. But remember, there are things between heaven and earth that philosophers never dreamed of 😉 .

Divination is not magic, but a tool to better understand ourselves and the world around us. They can help us make important decisions, but we should not treat them as ready-made solutions.

And have any of you used online fortune telling? I've seen a lot of ads for such services on the Internet lately. I'm curious if they are as effective as traditional fortune telling.
